Artist Spotlight - AC Slater

Next up for our 6 year anniversary spotlight series is a guy who almost needs no introduction. AC Slater has been the party master of ceremonies for quite some time. Effortlessly flowing through genres and styles, this guy can give as good as he gets when it comes to both DJing and production.

Here's an excellent case in point video of Slater running a crowd at One Five One in Australia:

His latest mix is a furious blast of beats, bass, and electro. This is some big room weaponry.

It's all too fitting that his "Sidewinder" release (available on Beatport) should be a perfectly condensed mingling of these sounds, packaged in a sure-fire banger.

In case you missed it, here's a free Nina Sky remix to take with you:

Bio: Raised on ’90s hip-hop and nourished by old skool rave, AC Slater has combined his influences and love of music to birth his own production style, which is currently breathing life into subwoofers worldwide. Slater is a member of the Trouble & Bass family, as well as heading his own record label, Party Like Us. His music is consistently played on the UK’s tastemaking BBC Radio 1 and Kiss 100, and his tracks have appeared in DJ sets from Crookers, Armand Van Helden, Jack Beats, Craze, Tommie Sunshine, Freestylers, MSTRKRFT, Sinden, Drop the Lime, and Stanton Warriors, to name a few. AC’s first major EP, Jack Got Jacked (released in September 2008 on Palms Out Sounds), hit the #1 bestseller position on Juno, Moby picked his remix of "Turn the Music Up" as one of the top 10 songs of the decade, and Beatport and XLR8R Magazine named him one of their "Artists to Watch" in 2009, just to list a few accolades.

Star Eyes' New Project "Dark Ages" Out on Frite Nite

Dark Ages is the result of a Taoist gangster mind meld between Star Eyes of Trouble & Bass and 5kin of San Francisco's very own 5kinAndBone5. The First Born EP is a ratchet slice of 140 bpm madness, from the sinewy snake-charmer "Anansi's Revenge" to the smoky bong-ripping "Ark Storm" and the evil joyride of "Wrong Ghetto."

The release is out now via Fritenite.com and XLR8R Magazine is giving away a free download of "Wrong Ghetto".
