Detroit: The New Dance Show “Elevator Up”

Midgets doing the splits. An unroasted chicken dancing. Rainbow tie-dye jumpsuits. A giant Tupac head. Upskirt shots. “Cosmic Raindance.” And butts. So, so many butts. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this video of Detroit’s The New Dance Show is worth a quadrillion. Every episode of this show (which ran from the late ’70s to mid-2000s in the D) is tight as hell, but this one makes me crazed. The time between 3:11 and 3:30 is so bugged out I could watch it on a loop forever and ever. And the music is my shiiiit—this is bass music. This really makes me think about how people have really de-funked techno since these times… you know, when I’m not busy doing the Tootsie Roll.
